Spider-Man To Appear In Avengers: Infinity War?

Spider-Man could appear in the upcoming Avengers movie.

16th January 2015 by Ryan Leston

Spider-Man The Avengers

Spider-Man might end up in the Avengers after all… as rumours suggest that talks between Sony and Marvel are far from over.

It’s the one crossover at the top of every comic book fan’s wish list – bringing Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After all, he was one of the main super heroes in The Avengers comic books and his presence remains sadly lacking. But unfortunately, it’s easier said than done.

Although it recently surfaced that Sony and Marvel had been in discussions, it soon appeared that talks had broken down. But did they eventually come to an agreement?

The Fantastic Four Trailer Release Confirmed

According to the Latino Review, there’s a lot more that happened behind the scenes… and those rumours of a Spider-Man cameo might be far from over.

“Spider-Man IS in this movie,” they explain. “The Sony deal went through.”

“I don’t have the exact details nor a paper trail,” they added. “But I’m told we’ll see an MCU Spider-Man in Infinity Wars Part 1, as that was the next logical place to insert him after they missed the window to logically include him in Civil War.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Spider-Man connected to Marvel’s Avengers… and it’s not the first time we’ve seen ‘Infinity War’ suggested as the film in which it could happen.

After the recent Sony hack, a number of e-mail to top Sony executives hinted that the Spider-Man talks were far from over. But were Sony and Marvel able to strike a deal?

According to Sony, there’s just no truth to the rumours.

Speaking to Comic Book Resources, a Sony rep stated that Latino Review’s report was just an “old rumour” with “no validity whatsoever”.

Obviously, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the report is wrong… after all, it’s rather odd for a studio to refute such rumours so quickly after it hits the headlines. But after Sony’s hack recently, they may be feeling like they’re on the back foot.

Or perhaps they’re just trying to keep things quiet.

Either way, it’s an interesting idea, and if the studios are able to come to an agreement, it could mean bringing one of Marvel’s greatest superheroes into the MCU. Let’s just hope it works out in the end.

Avengers: Infinity War heads to cinemas on 4 May 2018 and 3 May 2019.

What do you think of this ambitious rumour? Will Spider-Man head to the MCU? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
