Rainn Wilson has landed a role in Star Trek Discovery.
The Office star Rainn Wilson is beaming up to the new Star Trek series, with the 51-year-old actor landing an iconic role based on an original series character.
“Star Trek: Discovery has cast The Office alum Rainn Wilson in the role of Harry Mudd,” revealed Variety. “It is unknown how many episodes Wilson will appear in at this time.”
Of course, fans will know exactly who that is.
Harry Mudd first appeared in the original series – an interstellar conman who had several run-ins with the crew of the USS Enterprise, and was originally played by Roger C. Carmel.
Now, the character is returning in Discovery.

And Rainn Wilson might just be the perfect man for the classic sci-fi series.
As well as appearing on The Office, Wilson has starred in numerous film and TV projects, including stand-out roles in Six Feet Under and Backstrom. He also made waves in James Gunn’s quirky ‘superhero’ movie, Super.
Now, he joins Discovery… and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the role.
The new series was originally set to air in January 2017, but repeated delays mean the show has been pushed back until sometime in the summer or early autumn.
“As Variety previously reported, sources say difficulties casting and behind-the-scenes flux, including Bryan Fuller stepping down as showrunner, are cause for the show’s delay.”
Star Trek: Discovery stars Jason Isaacs, Sonequa Martin-Green, Terry Serpico, Maulik Pancholy, James Frain, Doug Jones, Michelle Yeoh, Anthony Rapp, Shazad Latif, and Mary Wiseman.
Star Trek: Discovery heads to CBS sometime later this year.
