It’s official – we’ve finally got our first look at Star Wars: Rogue One.
The first official teaser trailer debuted this morning on Good Morning America, and has become available online.
The trailer features Felicity Jones as rebellious youngster who has been picked up by the Rebel Alliance… and soon finds herself fighting the good fight.
“This is a rebellion, isn’t it?” she asks. “I rebel.”

But things aren’t what they seem, and the Rebel leaders soon admit they have a special mission for her… and one which ties directly into the original Star Wars movies.
“We have a mission for you,” says Mothma. “A major weapons test is imminent… we need to know what it is and how to destroy it.”
That’s right – Felicity Jones will be leading a crack squad to acquire the plans to the original Death Star. And while it’s no small feat, it looks as though she’s in good company with the spin-off’s version of Poe Dameron, played by Diego Luna.
The trailer features some rather thrilling moments as we watch Jones go up against those classic Stormtroopers, as well as the appearance of the familiar (and still utterly terrifying) AT-AT walkers. And with Ben Mendelsohn finally making an appearance as an unknown Imperial Officer, it looks as though they’re up against some of the Empire’s finest.

The Star Wars: Rogue One teaser trailer also features the return of some iconic Star Wars characters… most importantly, Rebel leader Mon Mothma. Appearing clad in her classic white robes, stood in the midst of what appears to be a tactical staging area, it’s an obvious nod to the original trilogy… and there are plenty more throughout.
Star Wars: Rogue One features plenty of familiar sights – the classic orange jumpsuits of rebel pilots, the iconic Stormtrooper suits, and the ominous presence of the original Death Star.

We may already know the outcome of their mission, but will Felicity Jones make it through in one piece?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
Star Wars: Rogue One heads to cinemas on 16 December 2016.
