A new teaser for Star Wars: Rogue One has debuted a new kind of Stormtrooper…
It’s official – we’ve had our first tease of the upcoming Star Wars spin-off.
And while it may not be the longest video we’ve ever seen, it certainly gives us a good look at one of its new arrivals.
Introducing… well, we don’t know what it’s called. But it’s a new kind of Stormtrooper.
Ahead of the first Star Wars: Rogue One trailer, Disney and Lucasfilm released a short tease last night… and in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance, we got our first glimpse at this new Imperial threat.
And let’s be honest – he looks pretty badass.
Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen that helmet. Rogue One actor Donnie Yen took to Twitter last year, and revealed a candid image of a group of new Star Wars helmets.
But while the image was quickly taken down (presumably after he suffered the wrath of Lucasfilm), it was too late – the new Stormtrooper helms had already spread far and wide.
Back to the helmet, it’s certainly a rather menacing new look… and the general consensus amongst the fans is that this could be either a Shadow Trooper, or perhaps a new design based on the Imperial Commandos.
But for now, we don’t really know… and it could be an entirely new kind of trooper.
Star Wars: Rogue One is directed by Gareth Edwards, and follows the plot to steal the original Death Star plans, leading up to the events of A New Hope.
Felicity Jones takes the lead role, and is joined by Ben Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelsen, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed and Forest Whitaker.
Star Wars: Rogue One heads to cinemas on 16 December 2016.
