Star Wars: The Force Awakens

It looks as though we get a much closer look at some of the new Star Wars VII characters thanks to a leaked image of the upcoming action figures… and they look pretty awesome.

According to the forums over at Chinese Star Wars (via MakingStarWars) this is our first glimpse at the prototypes for the upcoming Star Wars VII action figures. And it certainly gives us a closer look at some of the new characters.

Maisie Richardson-Sellers Confirms Star Wars VII Role

Most strikingly, it seems we’ll be getting a cool figure of the rather awesome ball droid, BB-8. And it looks as though Chewbacca is back and better than ever… even if rumours that he would have a cyborg arm have been greatly exaggerated.

But most importantly, these figures give us a better look at some of the new players.

Taking centre stage is Daisy Ridley’s Rey – and from this image it looks as though she has much more of a scrapper vibe than we saw in the trailer. And I get the feeling her attire is just about perfect for the harsh conditions of Tatooine.

Of course, to her left is John Boyega’s Finn… and rather interestingly, this is the first time we’ve seen him out of that Stormtrooper uniform. Judging from the waistcoat alone, I can’t help thinking he has a bit of a ‘Han Solo’ feel. But we’ll have to wait until we see him in a bit more detail to get a better idea.

Last but definitely not least is a mysterious figure on the far left. Complete with a strange, new helmet, this is apparently the Sith-like villain we saw in the trailer – Kylo Ren. Now, this is clearly a much better look at the villainous character beneath the hood. But it still leaves us wondering exactly who will be playing him. Even if that new helmet is pretty cool.

Natalie Portman Says Star Wars Nearly Ruined Her

All-in-all, it’s a bumper crop for Star Wars action figure collectors… and at this early stage, it gives us our first good look at the potential villain in The Force Awakens. But will we see any cool new figures for as-yet unseen characters?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But I can’t wait to add these to my collection.

What do you think of these cool new Star Wars action figures? What do you think they tell us about the characters? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
