Although Star Wars VII filming has already finished, it looks as though the cast list is increasing… and now adds British actress Leanne Best.
The British actress – who has appeared in the likes of Casualty and Doctors – recently made her big screen debut in The Woman In Black 2: Angel Of Death. And now, it looks as though she’s added another small film to her acting resume – Star Wars VII.

According to our pals at Yahoo! Movies UK, the actress has been revealed as a member of J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars VII cast in a recent PR e-mail.
“Brit actor Leanne Best [is] available for interview,” it reads. “Leanne is currently starring as the woman in black in The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death showing in theatres worldwide. With a number of film projects on the horizon, 2015 will also see Leanne in J.J. Abrams’ highly anticipated Star Wars VII.”
The e-mail apparently also makes mention of her upcoming film The Outcast… though I imagine that’s not the film most fellow journalists will be interested in.
Her IMDB page currently makes no mention of a role in Star Wars VII but that will no doubt be updated soon given this new information. Unfortunately, her exact role in the film remains a mystery.
But has Best landed a juicy role, or will she appear as a named extra?
At the moment, the exact nature of her appearance in the film remains a mystery. Given her recent appearance as the Woman in Black, she could well appear in a more prominent role. But will she appear amongst the main cast? Well… probably not.
At this stage, we already know most of the main players in the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens and while it’s exciting to see many British actors landing roles in the film, it’s unlikely to be a major part.
Still, congratulation to Leanne for landing what has to be a dream job for many of us.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens heads to cinemas on 18 December 2015.
