Star Wars VII Features The Hutts?

Could Jabba the Hutt or his kind be in Star Wars VII?

1st February 2015 by Ryan Leston

Star Wars VII Jabba The hutt

The infamous Hutt cartel may make an appearance in Star Wars VII and might even make it into the upcoming spin-off?

According to the Latino Review, we’ll see the return of the Hutts in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and they may even appear in the upcoming spin-off.

“There are Hutts in The Force Awakens,” they reveal. “We know because those Hutts have been practically built. I know there is more than one Hutt, but unsure how many exactly are going to show up.”

Of course, the most famous of the Hutts was Jabba… but since his death at the hands of Princess Leia in Return of the Jedi, it’s unlikely that we’ll be seeing him again.

However, that’s not to say we won’t see more of his species return to Star Wars. And I imagine we can expect plenty more underhanded dealings.

“The process of constructing these Hutts began over a year ago,” they explain. “You can imagine how my ears perked up when it was rumored that the Star Wars spin-off film would be ‘sharing assets’ with The Force Awakens, despite being in different time periods.”

Obviously, the Hutts would be a great asset to share. After all, they’ve appeared in both the prequel and original trilogies… and if we’re dealing with bounty hunters and smugglers in the spin-off, it’s likely the Hutts will be involved somewhere.

“How hard can it be to re-dress a Hutt? Reaching out to a source, I was told: ‘I’m sure their existence could have factored in to them being included, or the expenditure was made because it was all coordinated’. In other words: if JJ wanted expensive Hutts, it might have been okay since they could be used down the line.”

Obviously, this is by no means a confirmation that they will appear… but if you ask me, it’s highly likely. The Hutt cartel have featured throughout the Star Wars saga. And if there’s a dirty deal to be made, you can guarantee the Hutts are behind it somehow.

Star Wars Spin-Off Gets New Writer

Quite how they fit into either Star Wars VII or the Star Wars spin-off remains a mystery. So for now, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens heads to cinemas on 18 December 2015.

Do you think the Hutts will appear in Star Wars VII? What about the first Star Wars spin-off? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
