Star Wars: Episode VII has finally been given an official title and it’s more powerful than you could possibly imagine.
Star Wars – The Force Awakens has finally been unveiled by the folks at StarWars.com… and if you ask me, it’s far better than any of the long-rumoured titles.
Of course, ever since Star Wars VII was first announced, we’ve heard numerous reports of rumoured titles. But The Force Awakens is what J.J. Abrams and the folks at Lucasfilm have finally gone with. Whether or not it will still be referred to as Episode VII remains to be seen.
We’ve seen names such as The Ancient Fear and even A New Dawn all but confirmed by the Star Wars rumour mill. But while everyone was keen to speculate on the upcoming title, it seems that nobody even came close.
But what does this mean for the plot of Star Wars VII?
The Force Awakens certainly evokes a certain image… of the rising Jedi order in a new age where the Force has been reawakened. But does this mean that the Force has been all but lost since the events of Return of the Jedi?
It’s been rumoured that Luke Skywalker will have taken a back seat in the time since the original trilogy ended… and with the return of the original cast for Star Wars VII it looks as though the Force being reawakened is as good a time as any to get the old crew back together.
But is Luke Skywalker on the side of good or evil?
As the last of the Jedi order, it’s possible that Luke is struggling to contain his power. And with only the guidance of those long dead, it’s been rumoured that Skywalker has chosen the life of a hermit in order to keep himself away from the struggles of the galaxy… after all, he doesn’t want to fall to the Dark Side like his father.
Will he follow in his dad’s footsteps or can he stay on the Light Side of the Force? Those are the big questions that face us as we anticipate the release of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
