After losing out on the role of Luke Cage, Terry Crews is interested in another Marvel superhero role – the Silver Surfer.
Although Terry Crews found himself linked to the role of Luke Cage in Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series, he unfortunately lost out to his good pal Mike Colter… despite proving to be fan favourite. But could he appear as another Marvel superhero?
It seems he has his sights set on the Silver Surfer…
During a Reddit Q&A Session, the 46-year-old former American Football player revealed that he’d love to play Marvel’s cosmic hero, the Silver Surfer.
“You know who else I’d like to play?” he said. “The Silver Surfer. I always LOVED – I thought I had the build, the body, I could get on that surfboard, and if they ever do a live-action version of Silver Surfer, I think that would be perfect for me.”
Of course, the Silver Surfer recently appeared in Fox’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and was portrayed using a combination of CGI and an actor on set… as well as the voice of Laurence Fishburne.
But could Terry Crews end up in the role?
Although Fox is currently rebooting the Fantastic Four franchise, it looks as though Josh Trank’s vision is a lot grittier than the earlier movies… and I can’t help thinking that for the time being, the Silver Surfer might stand out a bit.
Having said that, it’s certainly not impossible… and with the physique and stamina to really put everything into the role, perhaps Crews would make a fantastic Silver Surfer.
Of course, whether or not that happens is another matter entirely.
Thankfully, Crews doesn’t hold a grudge when it comes to that Luke Cage role… and during the same Q&A, he admitted that he’s happy for Mike Colter.
“I always did love Luke Cage,” he explained, “and I’m really, really happy about who they cast in the Netflix version of Luke Cage.”
But will Crews get to star in his own superhero role? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
