The Defenders Release Date Revealed

The Defenders will be teaming up a lot sooner than we thought… heading to Netflix on 18 August 2017.

April 5, 2017 by Ryan Leston

The Defenders Marvel

The Defenders TV series is just around the corner.

A mysterious new teaser trailer for Marvel’s The Defenders has appeared online… and it looks as though Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist will be getting the gang together sooner than we thought.

The trailer, titled ‘Midland Circle Security Elevator B’ gives us a glimpse of all four heroes through grainy, security camera footage as they enter the elevator. And the release date? That appears in the time stamp in the upper right-hand corner of the video, ending at “8:18:20:17.”

That’s 18 August 2017.

Interestingly, all four heroes appear in the video – Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist… but eagle-eyed viewers will notice that Daredevil seems to be wearing a bandana-style mask, similar to the one he wore during Season One.

Does this mean he’ll be reverting to that earlier costume?

Or was Charlie Cox simply not around to film this teaser, and the mask made it easier for someone else to fill in for the time being?

Either way, it’s intriguing…

And it looks as though the show’s release date isn’t the only bit of hidden info.

Iron Fist May Get A Costume In The Defenders (EXCLUSIVE)

A snippet of text in the upper left-hand corner reads: “ip/dns //: 23.253.120.81”. That’s right – an IP address. Popping ‘23.253.120.81’ into your internet browser will take you to a website for the New York Bulletin Archive – the fictional newspaper at the heart of Netflix’s Marvel shows.

It’s also the current workplace of Daredevil’s Karen Page.

The new website is great, and it features a number of front pages focussing on the story of each of The Defenders. Oh, and pay attention to the advertising on this site – there are some great Easter eggs (namely an ad for Chikara Dojo) that will lead you down a rabbit hole that might even find you adding Ward Meachum as a connection on LinkedIn.
