Wolverine 3 could start filming sooner than we thought… as director James Mangold gives us an idea when they’ll start.
Although it’s no secret that another Wolverine solo movie will be heading our way, we’ve yet to get any idea about when Hugh Jackman will be heading out on set. That is, until now. But director James Mangold has teased that filming will begin a lot sooner than we thought…
After being quizzed on Twitter about when the next Wolverine film will begin filming, Mangold revealed that they’re heading out next year.
Of course, with such a short turn around, this seems to suggest that the next Wolverine solo film could be finished by the end of the year… with the current release date set for 2 March 2017.
But what can we expect from Hugh Jackman’s next solo outing?
Unfortunately, there’s little to go on at this stage… and we’re not even sure that it will connect with the events of the earlier movie, The Wolverine. After all, the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past could have changed all that.
But one thing we do know – Hugh Jackman will certainly be back.
It seems likely that the upcoming sequel will at least take cues from the comic books. After all, its predecessor may have been a largely original affair, but it certainly drew inspiration and characters from the story of the 1982 series, Wolverine.
Of course, we currently have no idea whether the sequel will do the same… and if it does, the comics it draws inspiration from remain a mystery – even if there is some enthusiasm for an Old Man Logan story to head to the big screen.
So for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
Wolverine 3 heads to cinemas on 2 March 2017.
