Although Zack Snyder will be directing the upcoming Justice League movie, it looks as though Warner Bros. were keen for Christopher Nolan to produce DC‘s superhero epic.
It’s no secret that Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy was one of the most critically successful in recent year… especially The Dark Knight film. But while Warner Bros. was keen to keep him on board, we all know that Nolan fancied a bit of a change. Even if that meant passing on the upcoming Justice League movie and Batman reboot.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Warner Bros. was determined to get Christopher Nolan on board for both the Justice League and upcoming Batman reboot… but clearly, he wasn’t interested.
“Retaining Mr Nolan for its key franchises has been a top priority at Warner,” they claim. “One of the reasons its slate of DC superhero films have rolled out more slowly than rival Marvel’s comic-book movies was the studio’s lengthy pursuit of him to produce a Justice League film and Batman reboot. He declined, though he did produce last year’s Superman movie Man of Steel.”
Of course, while Christopher Nolan was willing to produce the recent Superman reboot, Warner Bros. couldn’t convince him to climb back into the director’s chair. But would he ever be convinced to return to superhero movies?
“I think I had a great experience with the superhero genre and got to explore a lot of things,” he told Timeout Chicago, “But it was a good decade of my life and I find it hard to imagine returning to it. But never say never.”
Of course, Zack Snyder is already directing the upcoming Batman V Superman as well as the highly-anticipated Justice League movie. But could Nolan be convinced to direct one of Warner Bros’ other recently announced movie?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see…
