Wonder Woman Not Officially Greenlit?

Although Wonder Woman was announced as part of Warner Bros. upcoming DC slate, it looks as though its yet to be officially green lit…

Wonder Woman

Although Wonder Woman was announced as part of Warner Bros’ upcoming DC slate, it looks as though its yet to be officially green lit…

During an interview with Vulture, the upcoming director of the Wonder Woman solo movie revealed that the film is yet to be approved by the studio.

“She warns that at the moment there is no script, no release date,” they explain. “There’s not even an official green light from the film’s releasing studio, Warner Bros. — and even if there were, nondisclosure agreements and her paranoia about jinxing things would keep her mum.”

The Flash: Mark Hamill Talks The Trickster

“I really, really, really can’t talk about [Wonder Woman],” she said. “I just picture a drone coming in over the hills and crashing through the glass and flying over here and putting duct tape over my mouth, you know?”

Obviously, the upcoming Wonder Woman movie is a touchy subject. After all, Warner Bros. has been trying to give the Amazonian Princess her own movie for years… and it seems they’re still having trouble getting things off the ground.

Recently rumoured to have hired writers for six different scripts, it looks as though WB is keen to get this right. And the fact that the project hasn’t been green lit just yet shows that the studio is hesitant… but that might be a good thing.

Put it this way – the fact that the film hasn’t been green lit casts no doubts over the film coming to the big screen. After all, it was a major part of the Warner Bros. superhero slate announcement… and now, there’s no going back.

Wonder Woman Will Be Set In 1920s?

Wonder Woman will still happen. But perhaps the studio is taking its time before agreeing to kick off the production. Judging from the high-profile search for a female director, it looks as though there’s a lot riding on this film. And you can’t blame them for taking tentative steps before ploughing ahead with the production.

Michelle Maclaren was revealed to be the film’s director just last month and will be joined by Gal Gadot in the titular role. But when will production begin? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

Do you think Wonder Woman will be a big success? What would you like to see in the upcoming movie? Let us know in the comments below…
