X-Men Apocalypse: Bryan Singer Teases Egyptian Origin

X-Men: Apocalypse

It looks as though the titular villain in X-Men Apocalypse may be sticking to his comic book roots… as director Bryan Singer shares a very Egyptian image.

After the post credits scene in X-Men: Days of Future Past we know that Apocalypse will follow similar origins to those of the comic books. But while the upcoming X-Men sequel is going to take place during the 1970s, it looks as though his Egyptian backstory will remain. And this could be our first hint that we’ll see how some of it unfolds on the big screen.

Mike Colter Cast As Marvel’s Luke Cage

Taking to Instagram, director Bryan Singer shared the rather ominous image. But while it clearly depicts the construction of some kind of temple with pyramids in the background, it probably isn’t a production shot.

In fact, many fans are already guessing that this still belongs to the recently released Ridley Scott film ‘Exodus: Gods and Men’. But while that could well be the source of Singer’s pic, that doesn’t mean he isn’t trying to tell us something.

Throughout production of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Singer was a rather prolific tweeter… and regularly dropped production stills, behind-the-scenes images and even cryptic clues about the film’s plot via social media.

But has he already started with X-Men Apocalypse?

General Ross To Appear In Ant-Man?

At this point, we’re not really sure… but with this image clearly tying into the Days of Future Past post-credit scene, it really is difficult to ignore. Does it tell us anything new? Not really… but it seems to hint that we’ll be seeing more of Apocalypse’s Egyptian heritage.

X-Men Apocalypse heads to cinemas on 19 May 2016.

What do you think of this new image? Will we see more of Apocalypse’s ancient past? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
