It looks as though Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm will be back as X-Men: Apocalypse nabs Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner and Alexandra Shipp for the roles.
It’s been rumoured that we’ll see the return of these classic X-Men for some time… and after the deaths of Cyclops and Jean Grey, it’s a welcome return. Of course, several young actors have been linked to the roles, but now it looks as though Fox has reached a decision.
Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner and Alexandra Shipp will appear in X-Men: Apocalypse.
Revealing the rather cool new via Twitter, it was writer and director Bryan Singer who let the cat out of the bag.
Of course, Tye Sheridan was recently linked to the role amongst several others… but while it seemed that Taron Egerton might be the more solid choice, it looks as though Sheridan is the young actor they eventually chose. And apparently, he impressed very early on.
“Singer had been testing actors and actresses for the last couple of weeks,” said Variety. “And sources indicated that Sheridan blew Singer away early on.”
But what about Sophie Turner and Alexandra Shipp?
Again, both these actresses were tipped for the role early on… and it seems they each managed to impress Bryan Singer and eventually nab the role. In Sophie Turner’s case, this apparently put her in direct competition with Saoirse Ronan. But the Game of Thrones star won out in the end.
Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner and Alexandra Shipp join the cast as the latest X-Men mutants… and join newcomer Oscar Isaac who was recently revealed to play the film’s villain – Apocalypse.
Of course, they’ll also be joined by series favourites James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence… so it seems they’re in very good company.
But what will their roles be in X-Men: Apocalypse and how will they fit into the fight to save the world? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
X-Men: Apocalypse appears in cinemas on 19 May 2016.
