X-Men: Apocalypse offers a classic take on those iconic X-Men… as Jubilee and Jean Grey are unveiled in some rather awesome costumes.
Appearing on Instagram, director Bryan Singer unveiled the new, younger Jean Grey alongside buddy Jubilee… and their looks are far more in line with the comic books.

But does this mean even more classic-looking costumes for the rest of the X-Men?
Sporting a yellow coat with blue trim and some decidedly ‘80s shorts, Jubilee – played by Lana Condor – has practically leapt from the pages of the comic books. And yes, she will be wearing those iconic pink sunglasses.
Of course, Sophie Turner’s take on Jean Grey isn’t exactly the blue and yellow catsuit of the comic books… but I can’t help thinking that look would be difficult to rationalise in the more realistic world of the X-Men movie.
But these aren’t the only mutants we’ve seen so far…
We’ve also already had our first look at Nightcrawler… and he was also sporting a costume which seems more in tune with the character’s comic book look. Could this be a film which pays more of a homage to the classic comic books?
X-Men: Apocalypse is set in the 1980s, and will presumably follow the rise of Apocalypse – the all-powerful mutant forefather played by Oscar Isaac. Presumably this means we’ll see the appearance of Apocalypse’s horsemen… and with a slew of new, classic X-Men it seems we’ll be getting a film that’s remarkably close to the comic books.
But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
X-Men: Apocalypse heads to cinemas on 19 May 2016
