The all-new Batmobile has already been a source of contention amongst Batman fans… but will it live up to its predecessors? It seems we finally get the chance to find out.
After a number of low-quality images leaked of DC’s all-new Batmobile, it looks as though director Zack Snyder wants us to appreciate this monster in all its glory. Taking to Twitter, he’s decided to unveil yet-another high-res image of the Batman V Superman Batmobile… and I have to admit, it looks pretty epic.
“Here’s a real picture of the #Batmobile,” he wrote. And the image itself speak volumes.
Not to be outdone by folks leaking grainy, behind-the-scenes images, Snyder has given us a full close up of Batman’s latest ride… and with a rather menacing gun mounted at the front, it looks as though this could set the tone for a more combat-ready Batman.
Let’s face it – the windscreen doesn’t exactly look all too practical… and it definitely reminds me somewhat of a stormtrooper’s helmet. But with all that firepower, does Bruce Wayne really need to see where he’s going?
Clearly the new Batmobile has been built to last. And with a chassis that seems to cherry-pick the best bits of the previous Batmobiles, I can’t help thinking that Snyder has found plenty of influence in Christopher Nolan’s Tumbler… albeit with a few added extras.
It’s certainly not the practical, utilitarian vehicle of The Dark Knight trilogy. And with those rear fins it seems to channel the Batmobile of the Joel Schumacher era. But is it more than the sum of its parts?
Piling on the armour-cladding, it looks as though Batman is waging a one-man war. And perhaps that’s the point. It’s the Batmobile of an apparently grizzled veteran… and it really looks the part. But with the usual cries that ‘Batman doesn’t do guns’ could this mean that he’s going against his usual values to gain a bit of an edge?
If he stands a chance up against Superman, I’d say he needs every advantage he can get. But then, we all know that bullets aren’t going to stop the last son of Krypton. Will the impressive gun turret house an even more impressive gun? Or is it another trick up Batman’s sleeve?
For now, we’ll have to wait to find out.
