Adventure Time is getting a movie – bringing Finn and Jake straight to the big screen.
According to Deadline, the animated TV series will be getting the big screen treatment thanks to the folks at Warner Bros.
“Adventure Time, one of the most popular shows on Cartoon Network, is being developed at Warner Bros. for the big screen as an animated feature,” they revealed. “The project will be produced by the winning combo of Chris McKay and Roy Lee.”
Created by Pendleton Ward for Cartoon Network Studios, the off-beat animated comedy follows the increasingly absurd adventures of a 12-year-old boy Finn and his best friend, a dog named Jake.
Fiercely protecting the Land of Ooo from the Ice King (amongst other random threats), the duo are well known amongst comic book fans and geeky circles… and the show’s unique brand of weird and wacky humour has won it plenty of fans.
Producer Chris McKay was recently hired to direct the upcoming LEGO Batman movie starring the always awesome Will Arnett. And after co-producing The LEGO Movie, I can’t help thinking that ‘Adventure Time’ is in good hands.
But which weird and wacky characters will make it to the big screen?
Of course, there are plenty to choose from – each with incredibly wacky (and creative) names. But I can’t help thinking it’s celebrity cameos that will come into play here.
The likes of George Takei, Pee-Wee Herman’s Paul Reubens, Neil Patrick Harris, Andy Samberg and even Mark Hamill have loaned their voices to ‘Adventure Time’ characters.
Will any of them appear in the movie? For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But it’s guaranteed to be suitably off-the-wall.
