X-Men actress Anna Paquin would love to reprise the role of Rogue…
But there’s one condition.
Anna Paquin has long established herself as one of the original Marvel mutants. Bringing young Rogue to the big screen, she’s appeared in several X-Men movies as the young runaway… and almost appeared in the recent Days of Future Past.
But would she return to the role?
Appearing on Twitter, the 32-year-old X-Men actress addressed an eager fan on whether she’d continue returning to the franchise.
“If I get to fly, absolutely,” she said. “Comic book Rogue gets to fly and I never did. I want to be badass Rogue not shy teen Rogue.”
Of course, Rogue has already been through quite a transformation from her first appearance in X-Men to her (eventually cut) appearance in X-Men: Days of Future Past. But could the young mutant eventually return to the franchise?
For the time being, that seems unlikely… unless X-Men: Apocalypse is going to give us some scenes set far in the future. And then there might just be room for Anna Paquin’s Rogue.
Of course, there are also a number of spin-offs in the works… and perhaps we could see her alongside Wolverine in his next solo movie. After all, their relationship was always a nice touch in the original X-Men films.
As one of the main characters in the comic books (and a fan favourite) it’s likely that we’ll see her return at some point. But quite how she’ll fit into the new timeline remains to be seen.
After all, Apocalypse will be set long before the young mutant has even been born.
But could she appear in a flash-forward? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
X-Men: Apocalypse heads to cinemas on 19 May 2016.
