Assassin’s Creed is about to head into production… as Michael Fassbender reveals the filming is due to begin later this year.
During an interview with Coming Soon, the 38-year-old Assassin’s Creed star revealed that filming will start this September.
“It’s all new to me but starting to develop scripts and work on them, they take time. It just takes time to get a good story together and we really want to do it right. It’s exciting,” he said. “It’s going to start this year, we’ll be filming in September.”
The Assassin’s Creed movie is expected to follow the plotline of the hit video game… involving a new kind of technology which allows the subject to delve into their genetic history, experiencing moments from their ancestors.
Of course, Assassin’s Creed has long been in development… but while many assumed that the movie would follow the exploits of the original game character Desmond Miles, it looks as though that may not be the case.
“You don’t know that,” he said. “Don’t listen to what they tell you. That’s the first rule.”
But does that mean we won’t be seeing the original assassin’s story on the big screen?
It’s no secret that there are plenty of protagonists to choose from at this stage, with numerous subjects delving into various time periods… and it seems that’s half the fun of developing the movie.
“That’s always the challenge of something that’s so dense, to really find something and pare it down and basically, there are so many elements to it, so trying to translate that to an audience, you have to pick key things. So yes, that is part of it, getting through the density of it and paring down and engaging a simple story.”
But will the movie take a different turn?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But with production just months away, it probably won’t be long before we finally find out.
