After giving us another glimpse at the Batmobile, Zack Snyder has taken his new ride out onto the streets of Detroit… and it looks even more impressive in action.
Obviously, this clip was caught on camera by onlookers at the scene… and after mixed reactions to the initial publicity shots, I have to admit – that is one awesome Batmobile. I think the most surprising part is that it seems a lot bulkier than I initially thought.
But clearly the design takes plenty of inspiration from earlier models.
It’s obvious that the rugged design is channelling Christopher Nolan’s Tumbler… but there are plenty of other nods to other Batmobiles. The fins are reminiscent of the Joel Schumacher era and with those hefty mounted guns, it could even be a call back to numerous videogames.
That said, it’s an impressive sight. Watching the new Batmobile in action really gives us a sense of the weight of that thing. It’s certainly no flimsy prop and looks just as battle-ready as Christian Bale’s Batmobile. Maybe even moreso.
And that’s not all – there are a number of great quality images snapped courtesy of autoblog.com (via comicbookmovie) that really show off the new design.
Of course, this brief glimpse of an upcoming chase scene doesn’t showcase all of the Batmobile’s abilities…. But compared to the car it’s chasing, we get a real sense of the size and scale of this thing. And if you ask me, it looks like a real monster.
I have to admit, I was a tad disappointed when the new Batmobile was initially unveiled. However, after catching a glimpse of it in action, I’ve completely changed my mind. Seeing it from other angles and in motion really puts the design into perspective… and it could well be the Batmobile we’ve all be longing for.
