Star Wars: Rogue One Adds Ben Mendelsohn?

The Australian actor is linked to the upcoming Star Wars spin-off.

By Ryan Leston 26th March 2015

Star Wars: Rogue One may have found another cast member as Ben Mendelsohn joins the upcoming spin-off.

According to Variety, the 45-year-old Australian actor has already met with Disney and Lucasfilm for a role in Star Wars: Rogue One.

“May the force be with Ben Mendelsohn?” they ask. “Sources tell Variety the Bloodline star has met for one of the lead roles in Disney and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars spinoff Rogue One. The pic stars Theory of Everything actress Felicity Jones.”

Of course, Mendelsohn is best known for starring in Netflix original, Bloodlines… but has also appeared in supporting roles in The Dark Knight Rises as well as The Place Beyond the Pines.

But will he really be joining Rogue One?

“It’s unknown whether Mendelsohn has received an offer but the Australian actor is someone execs are seriously considering for the film.”

Unfortunately, it looks as though it may still be up in the air… and details of his role are equally scarce. Of course, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating, and we’ve already seen him suggested for a new take on Wedge Antilles.

Although this is pure speculation at this stage.

If Mendelsohn successfully lands the role, he stands to join the likes of Felicity Jones as well as director Gareth Edwards in the first ever Star Wars spin-off. And if you ask me, that’s highly likely. But which role Mendelsohn will take remains to be seen.

But who else will join them in the galaxy far, far away?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

Star Wars: Rogue One heads to cinemas on 16 December 2016.

Who do you think Mendelsohn will play in Star Wars: Rogue One? Who should join them in the first Star Wars spin-off? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
