Star Wars VII actors are rallying round their upcoming film… but with fans hoping that it might come close to the originals, could it really end up being better?
Episode 7 has just celebrated the end of production with a big old wrap party… but while most of the actors are happy keeping their thoughts to themselves, some have been a bit more vocal.
Actor Anthony Daniels – everyone’s favourite protocol droid C-3PO – thinks that Episode VII could be the best Star Wars sequel yet. But is it really better than The Empire Strikes Back?
Taking to Twitter, the actor who plays C-3PO throughout the entire saga thinks that the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII manages to top even the most-loved episode of the original trilogy…
Obviously, Anthony Daniels is referring to Episode 7 which is slated for release on 18 December 2015. But is he really right about this rather bold claim?
Let’s put this into context – a beloved Star Wars actor has commented on Star Wars VII after he’s just wrapped production on the latest sequel Not that he’s biased in any way…
But what if it turns out that he’s right?
I have to admit – The Empire Strikes Back is my absolutely favourite Star Wars movie. From the Battle of Hoth to everyone’s favourite cliffhanger, it’s a tour de Force. To say that the upcoming movie – which fans won’t see for over a year – is better than the most-loved film in the series is certainly a bold claim.
But if anyone has insight into the entire saga, it’s Anthony Daniels.
Appearing throughout the prequel and original trilogies, he’s played C-3PO in ever saga movie, as well as making numerous appearances in videogames and even the animated TV shows… and it looks as though Daniels is as excited as we are.
Of course, you can’t ignore the fact that Daniels is bound to be excited about a movie which brings him back into the spotlight… but I can’t help thinking that it could be a bit more than that. After all, J.J. Abrams is a huge Star Wars fan himself.
And I doubt he’ll rest until Episode 7 is absolutely perfect.
For now, we’ll just have to wait and see, and with the film still over a year from release, it’s a long wait at that. But Daniels’ comments certainly give us a gold-plated glimmer of hope in the galaxy far, far away.
