Although a full Daredevil teaser trailer premiers tomorrow, this 15-second glimpse gives us a look at Matt Murdoch’s heightened senses.
Appearing online, this ultra-short teaser reveals practically nothing…
But with Matt Murdoch suited up in black as the eponymous Daredevil, it looks as though he’s putting his heightened senses to good use already.
There’s really not much else to say about the extremely shot clip… except that Daredevil’s costume – inspired by Frank Miller’s Man Without Fear – looks pretty damn awesome.
Of course, there’s also the faint inkling that Daredevil is using his super-powered senses here… and Daredevil star Charlie Cox has already spoken out about how that will work on screen.
“We had to adapt certain things for the purpose of storytelling,” he told the Scratch The Surface podcast. “For example, and I’m making this up so there are no spoilers here, there is a scene where I come into the room, and let’s say there are guns all over the floor on one side of the room and drugs on the other side of the room. I’m just making this up, I promise I’m just making this up. So let’s say that’s the scene. I come into the room, and I [Daredevil] can pick up on those things, based on a combination of his senses, smell, gunpowder in the air, taste of cocaine in the air or whatever, he can sense those things.”
Of course, playing this out on camera is a very tricky thing… but it seems they’ve come up with a pretty simple solution.
“Daredevil wouldn’t need to look in that direction in order to sense those objects, but the camera needs to,” he explained. “So we had to come up with a way where he has to focus on things in order to kind of sense them, and by focusing he kind of cocks his head towards what it is he’s trying to get a sense of, trying to kind of create an image in his mind of what it is, so we can tell that story.”
Simple as that.
Of course, it’s likely that it will be spruced up a tad in post-production… and with the addition of visual effects, I can’t help thinking it’s going to look pretty cool.
But will we get a closer look at his powers in the upcoming teaser trailer? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
Daredevil heads to Netflix on 10 April 2015.
