After Star Wars Rebels debuted with an explosive feature-length episode, it seems we’ll be getting a glimpse at an iconic villain from the galaxy far, far away… as Darth Vader returns.
Appearing in a re-run of Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion, the iconic Star Wars villain will be featured in a number of all-new scenes. And I think it’s safe to say that he’ll have some very special orders for the series arch-villain, the Inquisitor.
“We wanted to do something special for the ABC broadcast,” said executive producer Dave Filoni. “We’ve added a scene which gives audiences insight into the Inquisitor and includes a cameo by Darth Vader voiced by the distinguished actor James Earl Jones.”
The feature-length episode of the all-new animated TV series, saw Star Wars venture into uncharted territory – a rebellious time between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. In a time when the rebellion is still a fledgling band of disorganised ‘terrorists’, Rebels follows the crew of the starship Ghost… and their on-going mission to give the Empire hell.
“The critically-acclaimed epic adventure Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion will air on ABC on Sunday, October 26,” they explain. And with all-new scenes featuring Darth Vader, I’ll certainly be tuning in for another rewatch.
Of course, Darth Vader isn’t the first Star Wars character to return in this all-new animated show. After all, we saw a rather interesting message from Obi-Wan Kenobi contained within Kanan’s holocron.
But will this open the airlocks for even more Star Wars characters to appear?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see… But with R2-D2 and C-3PO expected to appear in the next episode, I think we can expect even more cameo appearances from our favourite rebels. And maybe even a familiar lightsaber or two.
