Destiny 2 Officially Announced

It’s official – Destiny 2 is coming.

Destiny fans rejoice! You know that upcoming sequel you’ve heard so much about? Activision and Bungie have finally confirmed it’s happening… announcing Destiny 2 along with a rather awesome teaser image.

And it gives us a shocking glimpse of what’s to come.

If you’re a fan of the hit sci-fi shooter, you’ll no doubt know that a Destiny sequel was planned for some time. In fact, the folks at Activision already confirmed that Destiny 2 would appear sometime later in the year – autumn, to be precise.

But now it’s been made official…

And it seems to line up with some other rumoured info.

The new teaser poster features the number ‘2’ behind the word ‘Destiny’… and in the foreground, you can just about male out the smouldering remains of The Tower – Earth’s final city and last hope in the fight against the Darkness.

Of course, this tells us two things:

  1. Destiny 2 is going to change everything.
  2. It’s likely coming out 8 September 2017.

How did we get that release date? Well, a recently leaked poster for Destiny 2 points towards 8 September as the game’s official release date. And while we’ve still had no official word on that, the leaked poster looks an awful lot like the official one we’ve just been shown.

Of course, it’s all subject to change… but it does line up rather neatly.

We’ll keep you updated when the official release date is confirmed. But for now, here’s an interesting gif by Twitter user @Nibel who highlights the death and destruction that could be awaiting us at The Last City.

Chilling stuff.

Destiny 2 is currently set for release sometime later in the year.
