The Weeping Angels – otherwise known as the Lonely Assassins – were first seen in the sci-fi show in 2007 as the main villains in the iconic David Tennant episode, Blink.

Now, the statue-like kills are back… and they’re invading the beaches of Barry island.

Now, these creepy monsters have been snapped clambering out of the sea.

Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor recently encountered the Weeping Angels… albeit rather briefly.

During the recent Christmas Special which aired on New Year’s Day, the Doctor was imprisoned in a far away asteroid alongside some of the show’s most nefarious monsters.

Of course, she’s soon broken out.

And her saviour is none other than Captain Jack Harkness.

But not before we see The Doctor interact with some of her fellow detained.

During one scene, she is shown in a holding pen across from a Weeping Angel she refers to as ‘Angela’. But don’t be fooled into thinking they’re friends – as soon as The Doctor blinks, the Weeping Angel pounces forward.

Only to be stopped by her electrified pen.

Now, it looks as though Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor may get a full episode focussing on the Weeping Angels in the upcoming Season 13.

But will it be the same Angel she encountered in the galactic prison?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

But it would make an interesting story thread to find out what The Doctor was up to during her long haul in galactic prison.

And maybe her time there will catch up with her.

Doctor Who stars Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor alongside Mandip Gill as companion Yasmin Khan. John Bishop will join the show in a regular role.

The upcoming Season 13 will air sometime in 2021.
