Preacher may have found its Rev Jesse Custer, as AMC pursues Dominic Cooper for the role.
According to The Tracking Board, the 36-year-old Agent Carter star is in the running for the leading role in AMC’s Preacher.
“I’m hearing that Dominic Cooper is the frontrunner to lead AMC’s new comic adaptation ‘Preacher’,” they revealed. “The series, developed by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad), will be based upon Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s cult classic 1990s comic book series of the same name.”
But has Cooper actually landed the role?
“Though there have been no official offers extended to Cooper, I’m hearing that he’s the top pick to star as Jesse Custer,” they added. “Cooper’s involvement could come as a surprise to some fans, who typically fan-casted actors known for grittier roles.”
The popular DC comic follows Reverend Jesse Custer after he becomes merged with a half-angel half-demon entity that escaped from Heaven… and is forced to come to terms with his new powers and perspective on the world.
But while the TV adaptation has been in the works for some time, we’re still yet to receive any official confirmation about who will play the title role.
Will it be Dominic Cooper?
Unfortunately, we’ve no idea at this stage… and while the rumour may add up, it looks as though we may have a bit of a wait to find out. Of course, Cooper isn’t exactly at the top of anyone’s casting lists when it comes to Preacher, but he could turn out to be an excellent choice.
But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
