Elton John may have joined the upcoming Kingsman sequel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 69-year-old British singer-songwriter is in talks for a role in Kingsman: The Golden Circle… as weird as that sounds.
“Elton John is in talks to join the cast of Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Matthew Vaughn’s sequel to his 2014 action spy hit,” they revealed.
But how on earth would Elton John fit into a Kingsman sequel?
“It is unclear what role John is taking,” they explained, “although he could be playing himself.”
Already, social media has been ablaze with suggestions that Elton John would make a terrific villain… and following Samuel L. Jackson’s over-the-top stint as Valentine Kingsman: The Secret Service, I can’t help thinking they could be onto something.
Or perhaps it’s just a well-placed cameo.
Either way, it seems likely that Elton John will be joining the cast… which includes Taron Egerton, Mark Strong and presumably Colin Firth, whose character was thought to have died in the first movie, but has already been teased to return.
And Elton John would make a fine addition alongside new cast members Julianne Moore, Halle Berry and Pedro Pascal.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle continues the adventures of Eggsy – a wayward youth from the rougher side of London who has been taken in and trained by Harry Hart – a suave secret service operative who has pushed young Eggsy to become one of the global elite intelligence operatives.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle begins principle photography in London shortly, with director Matthew Vaughn at the helm, based on a script he co-wrote with Jane Goldman.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle heads to cinemas on 16 June 2017.
