Carrie Fisher will return in Star Wars 8.
And now we’ve got our first look at General Leia in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
During a tribute to the late Carrie Fisher at Star Wars Celebration Orlando, a short video revealed scenes of the iconic actress on various Star Wars sets… and it gave us a cheeky glimpse at Leia on the set of Star Wars 8.
Appearing in her full costume, Carrie Fisher was pictured alongside Star Wars 8 director, Rian Johnson… and it gives us our first look at General Leia in the movie.
But it’s not quite the General we remember from The Force Awakens.
Clearly, this is Leia in civilian mode – albeit some rather formal or ‘dressy’ attire. And so we have to wonder – is this a shot from Han Solo’s funeral? It seems only natural to give Solo a proper send-off… but given Carrie Fisher’s passing earlier this year, it’s going to be a bitter-sweet moment for Star Wars fans.
But at least Carrie Fisher won’t be bowing out so soon.

It was recently revealed that Carrie Fisher’s General Leia will return in Star Wars 9… and there won’t even be any motion capture involved, instead using scenes she already recorded to continue her story.
But quite how that works out, remains to be seen.
Still, we’ve got our first look at Leia in Star Wars 8.
And while she may be a General these days, she’ll always be a Princess to us.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi will star Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher.
Rian Johnson both wrote and directed the movie.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi heads to cinemas on 15 December 2017.
