Game Of Thrones Star Heads To Doctor Who

Maisie Williams heads to Doctor Who.

By Ryan Leston 30th March 2015

Arya Stark will be heading to Doctor Who as Maisie Williams lands a role in the upcoming sci-fi series.

“Having landed back in the UK fresh from touring the US, today Maisie Williams sets foot on the Doctor Who TARDIS to take up a guest role in the hit BBC One show that returns to our screens this Autumn,” said the official press release.

But who exactly will she be playing?

Unfortunately, it looks as though details of her involvement will remain firmly under wraps… at least, for the time being.

“We’re thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who,” said show runner Steven Moffat. “It’s not possible to say too much about who or what she’s playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell.”

Of course, quite what that means remains to be seen… although it certainly hints at a rather antagonistic role for the show newcomer.

Either way, Maisie is very pleased to be joining the cast.

“I’m so excited to be working on Doctor Who as it’s such a big and important part of British Culture,” she said. “I can’t wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we’ll be shooting not too far from my home town.”

Obviously, Williams is best known for the role of Arya Stark in Game of Thrones… and it seems the fantasy icon is now branching out into the realms of sci-fi with her latest role.

But who is she playing and why so much secrecy? Could this have something to do with Missy?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

Who do you think Maisie Williams will play in Doctor Who? Will we see more of her as the series progresses? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
