Iron Fist Almost Passed Out Filming Brutal Fight Scene (EXCLUSIVE)

Iron Fist star Finn Jones gave it everything he’s got…

During an interview at the JW Marriott in New York, I met with the cast of Iron Fist, and asked Finn Jones about his favourite fight scene… it turns out, it was one where he almost passed out filming it.

“There’s a fight scene in Episode Five where I’m in a container,” he explained. “I think it was like a Friday night, we’d been working all week, it was like, 3am and I’d just done a full day of shooting and we had to do this fight scene. And I was shattered.”

The fight scene he’s talking about is during Episode Five where Iron Fist and Colleen Wing (played by Jessica Henwick) head off to the Rand-controlled pier to find out what The Hand is doing there.

It turns out, they’re holding a chemist called Radovan – the man who created the formula for their unique brand of synthetic heroine.

And he’s being guarded by The Hand.

“I remember halfway through the fight nearly passing out because I was so exhausted,” he revealed. “I was so exhausted, I was just like, I’ve been working on the fight for about an hour already and I just had to be like ‘Whoa guys, I have to sit down’. It just got too much. And I really beat myself up after that shoot, thinking: ‘Fuck, that fight got the better of me, it’s not gonna be any good’.”

Thankfully, that wasn’t the case.

Although Iron Fist has come under a lot of flak for its lack of fight scenes (especially in the early episodes), it really starts to kick off around Episode Five. And that container fight just happens to be pretty awesome.

“I watched it back and I was like ‘Fuck yeah! That’s awesome!’ Sometimes, when you’re pushed to such extremes, and your body thinks you can do no more, that’s when the best work comes out because you’re at your rawest and you’re at your most alert. And so, even though it was very difficult at times and very exhausting, I think that’s when the best work came out.”

Marvel’s Iron Fist stars Finn Jones as the titular hero, alongside Jessica Henwick, Tom Pelphrey, Jessica Stroup, David Wenham, Rosario Dawson, Wai Ching Ho, and Sacha Dhawan.

Marvel’s Iron Fist Season One is available on Netflix now.
