The Boys star Jack Quaid is rumoured for the new Fantastic Four movie.
However, the actor himself has taken to social media to dispute the claims that he’ll star as Johnny Storm in the rebooted Marvel franchise.
“Hello everyone. Nope. Not playing Johnny Storm but hey I’m flattered,” he tweeted following reports that he was in talks to play the Human Torch.
“Now that you’re here though, donate to the @sagaftra foundation if you can!”
Fantastic Four rumours have circulated across social media for the last few days, with Jack Quaid seeming to be at the top of the list for the Human Torch aka Johnny Storm.
The character was originally played by Chris Evans in the 2005 Fantastic Four movie, followed by Michael B. Jordan in the more recent reboot.
However, the addition of Marvel’s first family to the MCU means they’ll be recast once more, and the internet is ablaze with rumours of who will be playing them.
Hollywood reported Jeff Sneider was the first to connect Quaid to the role, but has since changed his tune, stating that he was told “JQ” was circling the role, and that this is actually Stranger Things star, Joseph Quinn.
Additionally, Sneider reports that Mission: Impossible actress Vanessa Kirby has been approached to play Sue Storm, but Fantastic Four rumours have been rife over the past few weeks.
Unfortunately, they’ll likely remain rumours for now, too.
The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes have put a halt to most major productions across Hollywood, but they’re not just impacting filming – actors in the guild are not allowed to conduct any promotional activity either.
Crucially, actors are unable to move forward on any projects that would be considered “struck work”. That includes the casting of a major Marvel movie, and so even if these names are circling roles in Fantastic Four, there’s no way they can currently sign a deal.
For now, Fantastic Four remains uncast… and it’ll remain that way until the strike is resolved.
