Although Jada Pinkett Smith turned plenty of heads in Gotham, it looks as though she won’t be back for the second series.
It’s no secret that Fish Mooney – played by Jada Pinkett Smith – is not a classic DC character. Instead, she’s an all-new character that was created especially for the Gotham TV show. But while she’s certainly been throwing her weight around in the seedy underbelly of Gotham City, it looks as though she might not be staying there…
During an interview on Live With Kelly And Michael, the 43-year-old actress revealed that she won’t be coming back for a second series.
“I don’t think so, no. I signed for a year and the year is up,” she said. “But there are some great things coming ahead on Gotham, believe you me. There’s a lot of good stuff coming.”
But does this mean the end for Fish Mooney?
It certainly seems like a pretty definitive answer to whether or not she’ll continue as a series regular… but given the popularity of the character, will they really kill her off?
Although the show runners are keen to keep that card close to their chests, they reveal that big changes will be coming her way…
“Fish Mooney’s storyline takes a lot of interesting twists and turns into the finale of season one of Gotham.”
Of course, that doesn’t really give us much to go on… and when it comes to the fate of Fish Mooney, it looks as though her life might just hang in the balance.
Will Fish be killed off to make way for some more familiar faces? Or will she end up making some brief appearances in the future? “She could show up anywhere,” Jada Pinkett Smith said with a laugh. “You never know!”
For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But things don’t look good for the former big bad of Gotham City.
