Jared Leto Shows Off Joker Transformation

The Joker reveals himself (briefly) in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie.

April 20, 2015 by Ryan Leston

Suicide Squad The Joker Jared Leto

Jared Leto has inadvertently revealed The Joker’s new Suicide Squad look… as he gets caught sharing a candid image of himself in-character.

It’s no secret that Jared Leto will be playing The Joker in DC’s upcoming villainous movie, Suicide Squad. And we’ve already seen plenty of pictures of the young actor in the various stages of his comic book transformation. But what will he look like on screen?

We might be one step closer to finding out.

Batman V Superman Trailer Officially Revealed

The following image surface on Twitter today… and seems to reveal a blurry image of Jared Leto in the full Joker makeup as he shows it off on his mobile phone to a friend.

Although the picture quality isn’t exactly great, this seems to be our first glimpse at Leto in his on-screen Joker costume. But while the image clearly isn’t the best, it does give us some idea of the new costume.

Sporting a much brighter green hairdo than I imagined, it looks as though Leto’s Joker has donned a white suit with black trim… and with almost goth-like makeup around his eyes and mouth, there’s clearly a lot more to this image than meets the eye.

And is that an elongated prosthetic nose?

Unfortunately, not much can be gleamed from this low-res image… and while it definitely teases what the Joker looks like, we really shouldn’t make our minds up just yet. After all, an official reveal will give us a far closer look.

And the devil is almost certainly in the detail.

But will Leto’s Joker rival that of Heath Ledger?

I can’t help thinking it’s a tough act to follow… and judging from this first glimpse, I’m not sure it’s quite there yet. But it’s certainly a step in the right direction. And I get the feeling that Jared Leto will make a very sinister Joker indeed.

Suicide Squad heads to cinemas on 5 August 2016.

What do you think of Leto’s image so far? Will he make a great Joker? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
