Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom certainly isn’t messing around.
Ever wondered what made the dinosaurs extinct?
Well, in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom it’s a massive volcano.
A new trailer has landed for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and it’s full of action, adventure, dinosaurs and… lava? Hang on, that doesn’t sound right. But believe it or not, the upcoming Jurassic World sequel features a massive volcano which could wipe out all life on Isla Nublar.
Not to mention a massive gaping plot hole.
After the phenomenal success of Jurassic World, it was no surprise to find a sequel soon in the works. But that was almost two years ago, and now, the upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom marks the return of everyone’s favourite dino-trainer to the big screen.
That’s right – Chris Pratt is back on Islar Nublar.

And he’s inexplicably joined by Bryce Dallas Howard.
Don’t get me wrong – the pair make excellent leads for the franchise. But their reasons for returning to the island are a little… far-fetched.
Here’s the official synopsis:
“It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.”

“When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.”
Yep – they’re going back to save the dinosaurs from extinction.
Except… surely, they could just make some more? You know… in their lab?
It’s a pretty strange setup, and after everything that went down in the first movie, I just don’t buy Claire’s motivation in particular. Of course, it may play out a lot better than it sounds, it just doesn’t look that great on paper.
Can Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard save those dinosaurs?
The bigger question is whether or not they can save the movie.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas-Howard, B.D. Wong, Toby Jones, James Cromwell and Jeff Goldblum.
J.A. Bayona directed the movie, based on a script by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connelly.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom heads to cinemas on 8 June 2018.
