Marion Cotillard has joined the Assassin’s Creed movie… but which character will she play?
According to Deadline, the 39-year-old French actress will join Michael Fassbender in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed video game movie.
“Marion Cotillard has signed on to star with Michael Fassbender in the Justin Kurzel-directed ‘Assassin’s Creed’, the live-action adaptation of the Ubisoft video game,” they claim. And it looks as though she might be in it for the long haul.
“Like Fassbender, her role is meant to span multiple films if this one scores and becomes a franchise,” they added.
But who exactly is Marion Cotillard playing?
“They’re keeping under wraps the role that Cotillard plays,” they explained. “But she’s a versatile actress who won the Oscar for La Vie En Rose, and also played an action role in The Dark Knight Rises.”
Of course, she shot to fame as the mysterious villainess Thalia al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises and also played Leonardo DiCaprio’s wife in Christopher Nolan’s Inception. But as for her Assassin’s Creed role, it looks as though we’re none the wiser.
“Production will begin in early fall for a December 21, 2016 release through Fox,” they added… as well as confirming that Michael Fassbender will be taking the leading role. But will ‘Assassin’s Creed’ live up to the impressive video game franchise?
It’s already a rather impressive cast that’s shaping up before our very eyes… and if it continues on like this, I get the feeling Fox may have a great video game hit on their hands. But can we expect any eagle-eye scenes and signature acrobatics?
I think that much is a given… but perhaps they’ll pass on the tedious evesdropping scenes.
Assassin’s Creed heads to cinemas on 21 December 2016.
