Corporal Hicks will return in Neill Blomkamp’s Alien sequel… as Michael Biehn confirms upcoming filming.
After Neill Blomkamp revealed that rather stunning Alien concept art, there’s been plenty of talk about how this might affect the popular sci-fi franchise.
In particular, the appearance of the ill-fated Corporal Hicks. But now the movie has been given the go-ahead, it looks as though Hicks’s fate will finally be rewritten.
And Michael Biehn confirms that he’s due to begin filming.
Appearing on Instagram, the 58-year-old Aliens star revealed that he may not be able to attend an upcoming convention due to scheduling conflicts…
“I’m not looking at scheduling conflicts with the Sheffield Comic Con, due to my contract for Aliens to begin filming during then.”
Of course, this assumes that Biehn actually meant ‘now’ instead of ‘not’… after all, as it’s written would seem more like a firm denial than anything else. But in context, it looks like the former Marine Corporal may have given the game away.
And what’s more, it looks as though the upcoming ‘Alien’ sequel may begin filming in just a few months’ time.
Obviously, Biehn’s involvement comes as little surprise. After all, his image featured prominently in Blomkamp’s concept art… and it looks as though the young sci-fi director is attempting to fix the unwise decision to kill him off at the start of Alien 3.
But could this open the door to return from Newt?
With both Ripley and Hicks now on board in the form of Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn, it wouldn’t be a huge stretch to see the return of the young girl who first appeared in Aliens.
But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
Either way, it looks as though the upcoming Alien movie could be the bold move we’ve been waiting for… and it might just put the franchise back together.
