Minority Report will be back as the Fox network orders a full series of the upcoming sci-fi sequel.
According to Deadline, the ambitious sci-fi sequel has landed a full series order over at Fox. Which means we’ll be seeing those mysterious precogs once again.
“After days of dealmaking, [Fox] has wrapped its series pickups with nods to its big frontrunner Minority Report and dark horse Lucifer,” they revealed. And apparently, Steven Spielberg likes what he saw.
“Minority Report‘s series pickup was never in doubt,” they explained. “But the project, based on the 2002 Steven Spielberg movie, got the ultimate seal of approval from Spielberg, whose company Amblin TV is producing the TV adaptation.”
“The filmmaker, who had been involved in the development of the futuristic drama, recently watched the pilot, directed by Mark Mylod and, impressed by what he saw, opted for an executive producer credit, something that he is entitled to on all Amblin TV projects but rarely goes for.”
Of course, the last time we saw Agatha, Arthur and Dashiell was in the 2002 Tom Cruise film of the same name. But things have changed a lot since then…
The new Minority Report TV series is set 10 years after the fall of pre-crime, and sees the precogs struggling to fit into everyday society. Following the story of one of the brothers, he inevitably finds a new purpose for his gift – helping a young detective who may just be able to help him come to terms with his visions.
It’s an interesting continuation of the Minority Report saga and I personally can’t wait to see how it plays out on screen.
And with Fox picking up the series, it won’t be long until we find out.
