New Pacific Rim Uprising Trailer Features Giant Robot Fight

Big smashy robots go nuts in new Pacific Rim Uprising trailer.

By Ryan Leston 25th January 2018

Pacific Rim Uprising - Official Trailer 2 [HD]

Pacific Rim Uprising just got an explosive new trailer.

And it looks like we’re getting some Jaeger-on-Jaeger action.

John Boyega stars in Pacific Rim Uprising – the upcoming sequel to the hugely popular sci-fi flick, Pacific Rim. Jake Pentecost is the son of original film’s hero, Stacker Pentecost (played by Idris Elba)… and while the Kaiju have been fought off, it’s not long before they’re back.

And it’s not long before Jake is pulled into the conflict.

No matter how much he doesn’t want that.

Robotech Being Turned Into Film Series

Pacific Rim Uprising looks like more of the same, which is a great thing for fans of huge smashy robots taking on huge smashy monsters. But just to mix it up a bit, it looks as though we’re getting some huge smashy robots taking on other huge smashy robots, too.

I know… it’s quite a twist, right?

Here’s the official synopsis:

“The globe-spanning conflict between otherworldly monsters of mass destruction and the human-piloted super-machines built to vanquish them was only a prelude to the all-out assault on humanity in Pacific Rim Uprising.”

“John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) stars as the rebellious Jake Pentecost, a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose legendary father gave his life to secure humanity’s victory against the monstrous ‘Kaiju’. Jake has since abandoned his training only to become caught up in a criminal underworld. But when an even more unstoppable threat is unleashed to tear through our cities and bring the world to its knees, he is given one last chance to live up to his father’s legacy by his estranged sister, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) – who is leading a brave new generation of pilots that have grown up in the shadow of war. As they seek justice for the fallen, their only hope is to unite together in a global uprising against the forces of extinction.”

“Jake is joined by gifted rival pilot Lambert (The Fate of the Furious’ Scott Eastwood) and 15-year-old Jaeger hacker Amara (newcomer Cailee Spaeny), as the heroes of the PPDC become the only family he has left. Rising up to become the most powerful defense force to ever walk the earth, they will set course for a spectacular all-new adventure on a towering scale.”

Pacific Rim Uprising is going to make a lot of cash…

And I have to admit, it’ll likely make a decent action flick.

Pacific Rim Uprising stars John Boyega, Rinko Kikuchi, Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, Jing Tian, Burn Gorman, Adria Arjona and Charlie Day.

Steven S. DeKnight directed the movie, based on a script he co-wrote with Emily Carmichael, T.S. Nowlin, and Kira Snyder.

Pacific Rim Uprising heads to cinemas on 23 March 2018.
