A new trailer for Kingsman: The Secret Service has been released… and it gives us our first look at Mark Hamill as well as Samuel L. Jackson sounding off about the spy trade.
In this cool new clip, we get an extended look at Colin Firth’s harry Hart recruiting a young Eggsy into the Kingsman programme – an elite spy organisation which operates at the very upper level of authority. But what about that cool villainous monologue?
The film, based on a comic book by Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar, features Samuel L. Jackson as the villainous Valentine – a modern mash-up of the classic Bond villain. And he’s certainly no stranger to a monologue.
“Do you like spy movies?” he asks. “When I was a kid, that was my dream job. Gentleman spy.”
And it seems they just can’t help having a dig at recent spy movie trends…
“Nowadays, they’re all a little serious for my tastes,” says Firth.
Clearly, Valentine isn’t quite such a fan of gentleman spies… and with a razor-footed henchman guarding over his diabolical plan, the stage is set for a hammy, rather cheesy, fun-filled send-up of the spy movie genre.
Expect fun and frolics as we find ourselves thrust into a world of espionage and world-ending schemes… but don’t mistake this modern spy classic as a farce. And with Matthew Vaughn and Mark Millar behind the film, it looks as though we could be in for some Kick-Ass level violence.
Even if Valentine can’t stand the sight of blood.
Of course, an appearance from Mark Hamill gives us a first glimpse of him in the movie. And with Mark Strong and Michael Caine making an appearance, we get a better look at the inner workings of the Kingsmen.
But will Eggsy and the rest of the recruits be able to save the day? For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but it looks like one of the most enjoyable spy movies I’ve seen for a long time.
