The First Purge gets political with this great new poster.
That’s right – the film formerly known as Purge: The Island has taken on a new, far more political form as The First Purge. And it looks as though it’s going to be more relevant than ever as the new title is revealed alongside a post which takes aim at the President Trump.
How cool is that?
The franchise took a big swing into political satire with Election Year… and now it’s going one better as the upcoming prequel, The First Purge, tackles the rise of the murderous tradition.
And it’s likening it to the rise of the Alt-Right.
Here’s the rather awesome poster:

I told you it was good.
And here’s the official synopsis:
“To push the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, the New Founding Fathers of America (NFFA) test a sociological theory that vents aggression for one night in one isolated community. But when the violence of oppressors meets the rage of the marginalized, the contagion will explode from the trial-city borders and spread across the nation.”
It sounds as though The First Purge is going to directly tackle the rise of the Alt-Right.
I mean… ‘the rage of the marginalised’?
It’s certainly looking as though The First Purge could be the most politically-charged movie of 2018… and it’s definitely up there for movie poster of the year, too. I have to wonder what Trump thinks of it.
The First Purge stars Y’Lan Noel, Lex Scott Davis, Joivan Wade, Luna Lauren Velez and Marisa Tomei.
James DeMonaco both wrote and directed the movie.
The First Purge heads to cinemas on 4 July 2018.
