Ready Player One just got a cool new trailer.
The good news? It’s a big improvement on what we’ve already seen.
It’s no secret that Ready Player One was met with a pretty mixed reception after its first teaser trailer debuted during SDCC earlier this year. Chock full of pop culture references and very little else, it didn’t exactly excited the imagination.
But now, the film first official trailer has exploded online to an excited, geeky fanfare.
That’s right – people love it. And for good reason.
Ready Player One stars Tye Sheridan as Wade Watts – a young man who spends most of his waking hours logged onto The Oasis. A high-tech, virtual reality world, it’s here that he goes by the name Parzival… and he’s a much bigger deal than his humble, real-life counterpart.
The creator of Oasis is dead, and has set a challenge – anyone who finds the hidden Easter Egg within the Oasis itself will win half a trillion dollars, and become the sole owner of the technology… and now the race is on to be the first to figure it all out.

And with a creator who’s obsessed with the ‘80s, it’s a rad replay of some of pop cultures greatest moments… all wrapped up in a high-tech sci-fi spectacle in Ready Player One. Needless to say, pop culture geeks will get a lot out of this.
The new trailer is packed full of references.
No doubt, this means we’ll be pawing through film stills and attempting to decipher its secrets for weeks to come. And that’s exactly what Warner Bros. wants us to do – feeding our obsessive, fanboy nature as we enjoy the neon-soaked visuals of a much slicker trailer.
Oh, and it even ends with Van Halen’s ‘Jump’. Awesome.
Ready Player One stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Hannah John-Kamen, T.J. Miller, Ben Mendelsohn, Simon Pegg and Mark Rylance.
Steven Spielberg directed the movie, based on a script by Ernest Cline and Zak Penn.
Ready Player One heads to cinemas on 30 March 2018.
