Schwarzenegger Up For Running Man Sequel

After rumblings of a new Running Man sequel, it looks as though Arnold Schwarzenegger is determined to be back as Ben Richards in the grim vision of a violent, media-centric future.

Arnie wants to return for The Running Man sequel.

After rumblings of a new Running Man sequel, it looks as though Arnold Schwarzenegger is determined to be back as Ben Richards in the grim vision of a violent, media-centric future.

It’s no secret that plenty of classic sci-fi movies are starting to see an unexpected resurgence – especially when it comes to remakes and reboots. But while Terminator: Genisys marks a spectacular comeback for Arnold Schwarzenegger, it looks as though he’s keen on returning to another sci-fi film he made a long time ago…

Leaked Jurassic World LEGO Reveals D-Rex

According to the folks at Digital Spy, the 67-year-old Terminator revealed that he’d love to get back into the game world of the rumoured Running Man sequel.

“There’s rumblings of a new Running Man movie, so it’s a great honour to be asked back,” he said. And it looks as though he’s already set for a return to the role of Conan the Barbarian in the upcoming Legend of Conan.

“It’s an honour to be asked back after all these years, back to the franchise,” he said. “This is really wild. Harrison Ford was recently asked to get back to Star Wars, but it’s very rare to come back [after so many years].”

And these aren’t the only classic Schwarzenegger films getting a decades-on sequel…

“They’re doing a Twins sequel, to be called Triplets,” he said. “I’ve read the first draft.”

But could a Running Man sequel be a stroke of genius?

Although the 1987 sci-fi flick became a bit of a cult classic, it’s no secret that it was a bit on the cheesy side. Just look at those tight-fitting lycra costumes. But with Hollywood’s current tendency to go dark and gritty, The Running Man could be the ideal subject matter for a second look.

Although I can’t help thinking a remake might be a bit more interesting.

Still, it looks as though Schwarzenegger is keen to return to the role. But at 67, is he really the right man to send into the game zone? I can’t help thinking that if he’s even involved at all, it’s likely to hand over the baton… but who will take his place?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

Do you think Schwarzenegger could return in The Running Man sequel? Would you like to see this classic sci-fi movie return? Let us know what you think in the comments below…
