Although Mark Wahlberg is yet to star in a superhero movie, he thinks his next project, The Six Billion Dollar Man, comes pretty close…
After Transformers: Age of Extinction it looks as though we’ll be seeing plenty more of Mark Wahlberg as he continues to prove that he’s every bit the action movie star we’ve come to expect. But while he’s yet to don a superhero costume, he thinks that The Six Billion Dollar Man is the next best thing.
During an interview with Collider, the 38-year-old actor explained why he thinks the Six Billion Dollar Man is a superhero… but with a few neat perks.
“We’re talking about doing Six Billion Dollar Man, which is very much a superhero,” he said. “But I don’t have to wear any kind of spandex cape. So that would be cool.”
Of course, the upcoming movie is an adaptation of the 1970s TV series The Six Million Dollar Man… or The Bionic Man. But while it’s not quite the comic book hero we’ve come to expect, I can certainly see what he means. After all, he’s likely to sport some pretty superhuman powers.
“Howard Gordon is writing the script and people are talking about doing it,” he added. “But we got a great, great idea and it’s something that’s been in the pipeline for quite some time, so hopefully if we get the script right maybe we’ll make it after we do the Deep Water Horizon.”
Thankfully, the project was confirmed sometime last month and will be headed up by none other than Peter Berg – a director who Wahlberg has already worked with on Lone Survivor and even brought ‘Hancock’ to the big screen.
Will the upcoming adaptation bring a little comic book movie charm to the story of Steve Austin? For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But one thing’s for certain – Mark Wahlberg is going to be better. Faster. Stronger.
And that’s already pretty awesome.
