The first official trailer for Solo is finally here.
Great kid… now don’t get cocky.
It looks as though Star Wars fans finally get a glimpse of the young Han Solo in action. That’s right – the official trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story has finally debuted, and it gives us a good look at the iconic smuggler from the galaxy far, far away.
Not to mention, a few other familiar faces.
The new Solo trailer gives us our first look at the upcoming Star Wars spin-off film, which appears in cinemas in May – just three months away.
It’s certainly an unusual move from Disney and Lucasfilm to leave the trailer debut until so late. However, perhaps it’s to be expected this time around. After all, the production replaced its original directors (Phil Lord and Christopher Miller) during production with the far safer choice, Ron Howard.
But will the new trailer quell fears of a troubled production?
Unfortunately, the 45-second clip doesn’t really give much away.
But it does reveal that we’ll be finding out how young Han joined the Empire before eventually defecting… and it’s going to show us how he met his long-time co-pilot Chewie as well as the coolest guy in the galaxy, Lando Calrissian.
Here’s the full (rather safe) synopsis:
“Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy.”
“Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future co-pilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.”
Yes, it sounds kinda cool… but it’s not exactly making the jump to hyperspace.
And I can’t help wondering whether Solo: A Star Wars Story is playing it too safe.
But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, alongside Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Joonas Suotamo, Paul Bettany and Thandie Newton.
Ron Howard directed the movie, based on a script by Jon and Lawrence Kasdan.
Solo: A Star Wars Story heads to cinemas on 25 May 2018.
