While filming of SPECTRE continues, it looks as though we’re being treated to our first official poster from the upcoming Bond movie. And while Daniel Craig is front and centre, it looks as though he’s ditched his signature suit for something a bit more practical.
And for Bond fans, it’s an all-too familiar look.
Sporting a black roll neck sweater with a shoulder holstered pistol and a gun slung over the other shoulder, it looks as though Daniel Craig’s latest Bond outing continues to take inspiration from Roger Moore…
That’s right – the image has already been compared to a young Roger Moore as he appears in Live and Let Die. And let’s face it – the costume are practically identical.
Of course, this comes shortly after Daniel Craig’s skiing outing (where he was pictured with strange, new skiing goggles) was compared to Roger Moore’s alpine stints in The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, and A View to a Kill.
Even if Roger Moore’s skiing outfit was a bit more garish.
Still, the comparisons are obvious, and with Skyfall clearly giving us a direct link back to the bond films of old, it looks as though SPECTRE is going to continue along those lines.
What does this mean for the franchise? Well, it seems to me that director Sam Mendes is attempting to take us back to our childhoods… all the while, giving a thoroughly modern, and entirely gritty twist to the feel of the old Bond movies.
The similarities are undeniable… but we’ll likely be getting an equally modern movie by the time SPECTRE is released in cinemas. Still, with rumours of a return from Blofeld, it’s all adding up to be a trip through Bond history.
And that might be a rather excellent idea.
SPECTRE heads to cinemas on 23 October 2015.
