It’s here – Star Wars 8 has it’s first official trailer.
And it’s absolutely epic.
It was first released at Star Wars Celebration Orlando, and now the first official Star Wars 8 trailer has exploded online. Giving us our first glimpse at The Last Jedi, we see the likes of Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, Kylor Ren and even Luke Skywalker himself appearing on screen.
And this time, Luke even has some lines.
The awesome trailer sees Rey turning up on Luke Skywalker’s island retreat… and it looks as though she gets to train alongside the legendary (albeit forgotten) Jedi Master. But it’s not all it’s cracked up to be – Skywalker isn’t quite the same as when we saw him last…

“Reach out,” says Skywalker. “What do you see?”
“Light,” replies Rey. “Darkness… the balance.”
It looks as though Luke’s training is going to focus far more on bringing actual balance to the Force… and after Kylo Ren’s betrayal, it looks as though Luke is still in turmoil. And we might even get a glimpse of that betrayal during the trailer.

During one scene, we see Luke alongside R2-D2 – a familiar scene, which also appeared during Rey’s vision in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But this time, we get a better look at what’s happening. Luke and Artoo are surrounded by burning buildings. Could this be Kylo Ren’s act of defiance? Did he destroy a Jedi temple in the same way Vader cut down the young Jedi in Revenge of the Sith? It’s entirely possible… and it’s clearly an important moment.
Either way, it looks as though big things are coming.
“I only know one truth,” Skywalker tells Rey. “It’s time for the Jedi to end.”

If the new trailer tells us one thing, it’s that Skywalker seems to have turned away from the Light Side… but that doesn’t mean he’s fallen to the Dark Side, either. It looks as though it’s all about the ‘balance’ – perhaps in a way we haven’t seen before in the Star Wars universe.
But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi will star Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher.
Rian Johnson both wrote and directed the movie.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi heads to cinemas on 15 December 2017.
