Kingsman star Taron Egerton might not end up as Han Solo…
Although the 26-year-old British actor has been linked to the upcoming Star Wars spin-off movie, it looks as though the man himself is keen to dismiss the rumours.
“I’ve heard this rumor, yes,” he said on the Jonathon Ross Show. “I mean I’ve seen the stuff on the Internet, and I think any lad of my age would kill to play a part like that. It’s very, very flattering.”
“I’ve no idea if there’s any truth in it,” he added. “But I mean, Lucasfilm, Disney, if there is then you know where I am.”
Egerton recently found himself linked to the upcoming Han Solo Star Wars spin-off after The Hollywood Reporter claimed he was through to the final shortlist along with Alden Ehrenreich and Jack Reynor.
But these aren’t the first names linked to the role…
“Those who tested — and it’s unclear if these were costume tests or screen tests — were plucked from a previous group of around 10 actors who met with the directors. Among the names whispered to have met are Miles Teller, the Whiplash star who appears in the Divergent movies; and Ansel Elgort, the Fault in Our Stars star who also is in the Divergent movies.”
And we’ve even seen the likes of Aaron Paul rumoured for the role.
Han Solo famously appeared in the original Star Wars trilogy… and will be making his solo debut in the upcoming spin-off film. But according to Harrison Ford, he won’t be involved at all.
And that likely rules out any kind of flashback from older Han to his younger days.
“I’m sure whoever is responsible for that film, and I’m not, will think through the issues and problems of doing such a thing,” he told Reuters. “Let’s make them responsible for those questions you might think to ask me [about the Han Solo movie] because I’m not involved.”
Will Taron Egerton land the coveted role? For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
But one thing’s for certain – Harrison Ford won’t be back.
