Tomb Raider just got a rather epic trailer.
And it looks bloody amazing.
Tomb Raider stars Alicia Vikander as the iconic video game heroine, Lara Croft. Giving us another glimpse of the new, younger Lara, this awesome new trailer delves into Lara’s past. It even offers a tantalising tease of her dangerous adventure to find answers about her father’s death. And for fans of the video games, it even gives us a rather cool hint at what’s going on.
Especially if the name ‘Trinity’ means anything to you…
It’s long been thought that Tomb Raider would essentially adapt the story of the 2013 videogame reboot.
But now, it looks as though its going in a slightly different direction – essentially adapting the first game and Rise of the Tomb Raider in one go.
It’s an interesting move… and we can’t wait to see how its handled.
But one thing’s for sure – Trinity is heading to the big screen.
And Kristen Scott Thomas will be playing the mysterious Ana Miller.
“Lara Croft, the fiercely independent daughter of a missing adventurer, must push herself beyond her limits when she finds herself on the island where her father disappeared,” reads the brief synopsis.
Of course, Lara won’t just be going up against Trinity, with Walton Goggins starring as the enigmatic Matthias. Although this time, it looks as though her own father is responsible for the man ending up on the mysterious island.
How all this fits together remains to be seen.
But it looks like an epic culmination of the rebooted videogames so far.
And it might even be the best videogame movie we’ve seen.
Tomb Raider stars Alicia Vikander, Walton Goggins, Kristin Scott Thomas, Daniel Wu, and Dominic West.
Roar Uthaug directed the film, based on a script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Alastair Siddons.
Tomb Raider heads to cinemas on 16 March 2018.
